200 employees removed from Autonomous vehicle project? Am I surprised? NO!

If you want to know more about Apple’s dismissing of 200 employees, read this article on CNBC.  It details how Apple has figured out an autonomous vehicle is a long way off.

I say it will never happen.  I look at business systems and see so many errors from incorrect data, faulty programming, and data collection errors that the technology to replace a human in this sort of job is a long way off.  And I don’t see it.

Railway crashes happen.  They happen because the technology fails, rarely the operator.   How many times do you hear of a plane crash where the pilot was at fault.  I don’t remember one, maybe you do.

Keeping systems running properly takes a human brain, intensely desiring to make things work for systems to provide the results that people at the top should expect.

I do not have the vision to see turning my life on the freeways of the world over to a computer.  The people throwing money at that vision will soon realize that we aren’t close yet.
